Authorship and contribution policies
The editorial team of Ship Science and Technology (Cartagena) is committed to the highest ethical standards, editorial quality and good authorship practices, by adhering to the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Singapore Statement on Research Integrity, the Elsevier Publishing Ethics Resource Kit, and the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT), which is expressed in the following criteria:
Authorship and contribution policies
Authors are considered to be those who have made a significant contribution to the research process, drafting, presentation and adjustment of the manuscript, in accordance with the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT). Authors are asked to indicate in the author contribution form the contribution or role of each one in the manuscript (Download here).
Authors must present themselves in the order previously established by themselves and include the following information:
- Name with which they sign all their scientific output (for example, name in ORCID).
- Email address.
- Institutional affiliation, including city and country, and the affiliation’s ROR code.
- ORCID iD.
It is understood that the author who submits or uploads the manuscript to the journal platform assumes the role of corresponding author, and therefore is responsible for maintaining communication throughout the entire editorial process.
Manuscripts submitted to Ship Science and Technology (Cartagena) must be original and unpublished, and must not have been submitted to or be under review for publication in other scientific journals. They must be submitted with the consent of all authors, who must commit to maintaining these conditions until a final decision on acceptance or rejection is made.
Authors must commit to the journal to carry out any retractions or error corrections at any stage of the process. If detected, requests must be made by email to the editor, who will proceed according to the publication ethics policy.
Authors must specify the sources of funding for the research from which the submitted article derives (research typology), for which they must indicate: the project title, the entity or person who funded it, and the project code or identifier (optional).
Received manuscripts will be assigned a code and initially reviewed by the Editor and/or Editor Emeritus of the journal, to verify the relevance of the topic, the application of standards and the scientific structure, before beginning the double‑blind peer‑review process and possible publication.
Reviewers’ results will be sent to authors so that they carry out the respective corrections as a condition for acceptance of the article, through the OJS editorial management platform. As a refereed journal, Ship Science and Technology (Cartagena) will take peer evaluations into account for the publication decision.
Before publication of the article, the authors’ proprietary rights must be transferred to the journal Ship Science and Technology (Cartagena), via the statement of originality (Download here). This letter must be completed and signed by each of the authors.
The Editorial and Scientific Committee reserves the right to modify the title and content of accepted articles, as well as to make any editorial changes it deems pertinent, in order to improve the clarity of the article. Therefore, authors are recommended to write their texts carefully, check spelling, use short, homogeneous paragraphs, and make appropriate use of punctuation.
