Plagiarism policy
Ship Science and Technology (Cartagena) declares that it considers plagiarism an unacceptable practice, which implies that all manuscripts submitted for review must meet the following requirements before acceptance.
Submitted manuscripts must be original and unpublished, and have the consent of all authors. Therefore, authors are requested to use the cover letter format in which they commit to these criteria. The journal will not publish manuscripts that have been previously published in another language.
Fragmentation of extensive manuscripts can confuse readers or be detected as a form of plagiarism, failing to meet the established originality criteria. Therefore, authors are asked to include the appropriate citations in case their work mentions previous publications. Likewise, the author must be available to respond to requests from the editorial team or reviewers regarding previously published work on the same topic.
All manuscripts received will undergo a strict peer‑review process and iThenticate plagiarism‑detection software. If the manuscript does not meet the established originality criteria, it will be declared inadmissible for publication. If it has already been published in the journal, it will be withdrawn from the corresponding issue.
Ship Science and Technology (Cartagena) is committed to its academic community, and therefore will implement the necessary retractions and corrections to ensure transparency and due process in any case of erratum detected or reported.
Authors are responsible for the material included in their work, such as tables, graphs, photographs, figures and other content necessary for the development of the publication, and declare that these do not infringe copyright.
All manuscripts will be subject to a strict peer‑review process and the use of plagiarism‑detection software, which implies that there must be no cases of total or partial copying, nor paraphrasing without proper references, nor other practices of misuse or improper handling of information.
If the manuscript does not meet the originality criteria, it will not be published in the journal, or will be withdrawn if the defect is detected once published. Likewise, the journal will issue the corresponding retraction or correction, in accordance with good editorial practices.
