Conflict of interest policies

Ship Science and Technology (Cartagena) has established strict criteria to prevent conflicts of interest during the article evaluation process:

  • Anonymization: Editorial coordinators will prepare a fully anonymized version of each manuscript that prevents identification of authors, institutions, individuals, or funding sources.
  • Reviewer qualifications: Reviewers must be experienced researchers with prior scientific publications in the article’s subject area.
  • Double‑blind review: The journal employs a double‑blind peer‑review process to guarantee objectivity, ensuring neither authors nor reviewers know each other’s identities.
  • Anonymized communication: All exchanges between authors and reviewers are conducted anonymously and must meet the journal’s academic standards for manuscript feedback. The criteria for evaluation outcomes are detailed in the Peer Review Process section.
To ensure a conflict‑free review, the following requirements apply:
    1. Selected reviewers—experts in the article’s topic—must have prior scientific publications on the subject.
    2. Before commencing review, the double‑blind nature of the process must be verified to ensure authors and reviewers remain anonymous to one another.
    3. Based on reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor and reviewers will reach a consensus on whether the article is accepted without changes, accepted with changes (minor or substantial), or rejected; the Editor will communicate the decision to the authors.
  • Author disclosures: Authors must obtain all necessary permissions to disclose any information that names or references other entities or individuals, and must declare any prior results used in the research, including informed consents, acknowledgments to funding sources, and persons who assisted in the investigation.
