Brief description of the article selection process
Ship Science and Technology (Cartagena) follows a double-blind peer review process.
Each submitted manuscript undergoes an initial evaluation by the Editorial Team of Ship Science and Technology (Cartagena), with particular attention to the alignment with the journal’s objectives. This decision is communicated to the author within 1 or 2 weeks after submission.
If the manuscript meets the guidelines and falls within the scope of the journal, the editors will send the article to at least two reviewers from the Editorial Committee or selected external reviewers. Reviewer guidelines and assessment criteria include content quality, relevance, scientific merit, topic interest, the application of scientific methodology, and the use of up-to-date primary and secondary literature. The peer review process is anonymous. Reviewers are encouraged to follow the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers, available at www.publicationethics.org.
The final decision to accept or reject a manuscript rests with the Editorial Team, in coordination with the Journal’s Editorial Committee. In general, decisions are communicated within 6 weeks of submission, provided the author responds to reviewer recommendations within 48 hours of receiving them.
